This month I’m in charge of picking out some of our favourite new tunes. All these and more can be found on the Saint Audio Selects: September 2021 playlist.
“Summer Begins” – JINTANA & EMERALDS
A centrepiece from their new album Emerald City Guide, “Summer Begins” is a bright, doo-wop esque head-nodder. It sees the the Japanese group blend modern instrumentation with a retro style for one of the month’s best albums. A wistful, romping track, it perfectly encapsulates what makes JINTANA & EMERALDS’ latest offering so enchanting.
“Students – w/out remix” – RamonPang & w/out
The ‘augmented edition’ of RamonPang’s stunning album Nature System from earlier this year has brought forth some enthralling remixes of his tracks, one of the best has been w/out’s take on standout track “Students”. Colorado producer w/out brings a cutting edge to the track with driving rhythms powering the evolved remix.
“Every Single Time” – Example feat What So Not & Lucy Lucy
On “Every Single Time”, UK legend Example teams up with Australian producer What So Not and vocalist Lucy Lucy (of duo Yuma X) for a track that’s as catchy as it is danceable. With euphoric synth textures and a bouncing beat behind it it’s one of the songs of the month for sure and only drives hype for his forthcoming album.
“Gasp” – Lunice
My last selection this month is Lunice’s latest single “Gasp”. It pairs inventive percussion with dissonant sounds to create a uniquely brilliant track. Across a little under 3 minutes Lunice calls upon fluctuating synths as a repeated motif set atop a backdrop of claps and what sounds like gasps. It’s certainly a track not worth missing.
