A fresh new song hit my inbox the other day, and as soon as I heard it I knew we had to share it with you all.

Not much is out there about juuku just yet, but with skills like these, his music tells us all we need to know. His flip of Banks‘ “Under The Table” was inspired by a couple of events, which he spoke to us about. He shares that “this track is actually about two things—one is my battle from starting juuku and pursuing the dreams I have for it 100% and keeping it “under the table,” as well as the hesitations that I’ve had from pursuing it. The second meaning is about the story of my grandparents. My grandparents weren’t on good terms with each other for 10 years. My grandpa died in 2008, and my grandma never was able to reconcile things with him. She felt so horrible and let it all out during the funeral about how she should’ve fixed things. She died two years ago and this song represents their reunion with each other and their search for each other in another world/afterlife. The themes of the song are filled with hesitation and representing their bittersweet, yet hopefully reconcilable reunion.“

You can really feel the longing for something, be it a person or a dream, in the tension that builds up through the chorus. When it releases, it’s like taking a deep breath for the first time. I’m impressed with the motifs juuku imbues the song with—although it’s a flip of a pre-existing song, it has a beautiful, deeply human element to it that’s attention-grabbing.
