Essentials: “DSGD” – Manus

Following his first single “Favorite” (produced by YNG Cloud and Lazerdisk), Manus delivers a choice R&B track, “DSGD.” The Vermont-born, LA-based rapper is known for his love of video games and all things anime. So much so that he has coined the term “nerdswag” to define his music—he describes the term as anything that pertains to turning up and feeling good about being yourself.

Manus’s vocals on top of the smooth, fluid melody create a whirling party vibe. The repetitive line “hit the drug store for the get down” is more a metaphor for finding a way to ease the stress of life. The infectious beat takes on modern R&B, bringing a refreshing yet vintage sound.

Keep up with Manus on Twitter and check out his SoundCloud for more tracks.
