Bass-drenched festival Safe In Sound, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, hits Chicago this Friday, September 30th. Before you head to Aragon Ballroom for the one-night-only stop in the Windy City, get to know the acts on tour.
Oh man. Borgore. He’s the stuff of legends, really. As label head of Buygore, he’s responsible for fostering the bass and dubstep wave that’s been sweeping Soundcloud as of late. Many know him from his breakout single “Decisions” with Miley Cyrus, but give him a listen now. His recent collaboration with G-Eazy, “Forbes”, is particularly tasty.
LA duo Boombox Cartel tread the territory between those “PUT YOUR FUCKIN’ HANDS UP” crowd-pleasing bangers and all-out, thrash-worthy bass music. Wonky sounds mixed with surprisingly mellowed influences, like the delicate piano in “Supernatural” make them a fan favorite time and time again.
This four-piece electronic band is split between Los Angeles and Paris, giving their bass music a noticeable European touch. UK house elements shine through on “Holy Shit”, while their recent remix of The Chainsmokers‘s “Closer” goes absolutely balls-to-the-wall with its Euro-trance DnB breakdown.
As the resident Brit on the tour, Trampa brings back the good ol’ days of UKF dubstep. His no-holds-barred sound and simple but effective melodies are reminiscent of what first got me hooked on electronic music – big and bold bass. His Bulldozer EP is aptly named, with each track a heavier step up from the rest.
NYC producer Party Thieves‘s Undrafted EP release kicked off the launch of Flosstradamus‘s label, Hi Def, and with clear reason – this guy knows how to make slinky, dirty trap music. Take a listen and see why this guy’s an act you won’t want to miss.
