Flatbush Zombies released another video for 3001: A Laced Odyssey. The joint video for “Smoke Break/ Fly Away” exhibits some interesting visuals full of trippy textures drawn on top that plays into the group’s initial psychedelic following. Ever since the “Good Life” music video, I have loved the combination of film and drawing. This isn’t the same kind of colourful graphic drawings we saw in “Good Life” though. These are van Gogh-esque swirly textures that transform the film visuals into something much darker. While it would have been good to see a more versatile range of psychedelic effects, instead of the constant back and forth between the swirls and no swirls, its a cool video none the less and definitely worth a watch.
The video demonstrates the continued high production quality of APLUSFILMZ, who have done plenty of work for TDE. If you haven’t seen their previous videos they’re worth a watch as well. Bounce (below) is also from APLUSFILMZ.
