Essentials: “Throw Down Let Go” – Spor

Following a two-year hiatus and forays into both Feed Me and a newly revived Seventh Stitch, the multifaceted Jon Gooch returns to the alias that launched his rise to prominence, with a blistering new single on mau5trap.

“Throw Down Let Go” is textbook Spor. Crushing amen breaks, a snare that punches through the mix like a sledgehammer, and an utterly caustic reese bass that screams and splatters across high-octane choruses. Featuring Georgia from Liinks on vocal duties, her ethereal refrains weave hauntingly through the track, adding an organic periphery to Gooch’s meticulously crafted sound design.

Arriving in quite a sporadic fashion, each new Spor release feels effortlessly driven by a genuine sense of excitement. Gooch’s dedication to contributing innovative, sustained chaos to the extended world of drum & bass feels perpetually unrestrained and organically motivated, providing a consistent breath of fresh air to the genre whenever he decides to return.

With this single marking the British producer’s second Spor release on the imprint of long-time friend Deadmau5, “Throw Down Let Go” serves as a fiery preview of a new EP set for release on Friday, May 20th.
