For our 50th edition of the Saint Audio Mixes series, we had to do something special. We are so pleased to debut the first-ever mix from emerging hardcore artist Beauweiss. Listen to his signature “beaucore” sound in the mix, and catch up with the Los Angeles-based artist in our interview.
When did you get started making music?
I’ve actually been producing for what seems like a while now. I started when I was 16 or 17 but really didn’t take it seriously until my mid 20’s. I feel like I had a lot of distractions early on and it wasn’t until I had to really think about what makes me happy to get serious about it.
What accomplishments are you most proud of, and why?
I’d say my biggest accomplishments are the times when I can pay rent with music, lol.
How do you approach the creative process?
I usually need some idea or thought to get things going. It’s pretty rare for me that I end up with a cool idea by just sitting down and moving sounds around. It does happen every now and then though. I’m always writing stuff down in my notes on my phone. I’m not big on the whole melody first thing, it’s always scenario or theme driven at first. I need to set the “tone” before it begins.
What should we expect from you this year?
I’m going to put out as much music as possible this year. Every time I release something, I learn so much about my art and the process. I just want to streamline everything as much as possible while keeping it organic and spontaneous.
