Rising bass music star Farrah throws down a heavy guest mix for Saint Audio. We caught up with the Hong Kong producer on her inspirations and what’s next for her.
Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.
Hi! I am Farrah and I am currently living in Hong Kong. I love music, anime, and I’m obsessed with conveying my feelings and creating imaginary worlds into songs! Sometimes I enjoy a nice cup of green tea or coffee too.
What are you trying to showcase in this mix?
In this mix, I wanted to showcase a mix that could take listeners on an emotional and a fun journey. I wanted to include as much music from my extremely talented friends as well as my secret weapons. I am always in awe of the art that my peers create and I just feel blessed to be surrounded by such talented and artistic people. The mix has a range of emotions and I can’t wait for people to hear it!
How do you approach the creative process?
The creative process varies depending on the day. Sometimes I would get inspired by just a text message from a friend that was encouraging me. I would also be inspired by a soundtrack from an anime that I am watching, they are masters of creating tension for epic scenes and then they would also make me cry as I become invested in emotional scenes. There are also times when I would just open Ableton and make a remix off of a song that I am obsessed with and see how that goes. I am in love with story telling and my style is essentially putting all those influences into my music.
What should we expect from you this year?
This year is already half gone, time really flies! In July, I self-released a flip to one of my favorite songs at the moment. I just finished an EP and I am looking forward to hopefully release soon! If it doesn’t happen this year, it will happen next year for sure! Currently, I am also collaborating with a few artists that I am extremely excited for and now is the time when I am focused on just creating as much music as I can.
