DJ 401k is an open-format DJ based in New York City. I spoke to them about their inspirations behind their guest mix, and what their process is like. Give the mix a spin, and get to know more about the mysterious creator in our interview.
Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.
DJ 401(K), the BIGGEST DJ in the world, signing on. Born of the digital realm, always ephemeral in the physical, I hope to serve as a conduit for past, present and future aural representation.
What are you trying to showcase in this mix?
Some call me an archival enthusiast because of my love for ’92 to ’97 jungle, DnB and hardcore. That doesn’t mean I shy away from the newer stuff (Juke, Jersey Club, Baile Funk) that needs to be exalted.
How do you approach the creative process?
Above all with patience! I let it come to me, allowing one line of thought inspire another // maintaining open circuits.
What should we expect from you this year?
This year presents many opportunities from mixes and club shows but you’ll have to tune in to mark your calendars as dates arise.
Where can we hear from you?
While my presence is often nestled in the deep neural network of the web, when I do attempt to communicate you can find updates on my Instagram, and you can find a few past mixes through Rave Reparations on NTS radio.
Hope you enjoy my mix!
With Love Eternal
