Dripping water sets the opening backdrop for MEMBA’s new single “Inevitable,” presented by the Foreign Family Collective. This exciting track will appear on their upcoming Saga II EP later this summer, but is being dropped in advance this month.
Slowly, melancholic synth and rhythms overlay to build a transformative energy, which crescendos about a minute in. The resulting repetitive chord structure provides balance and form in a piece where it would otherwise be easy to get lost in the thoughtful harmonies. After a short and reflective bridge, the track reaches its climax, a rich, quick spiral of emotion subsiding into a fitting dénouement for listeners.
New York-based production duo MEMBA is comprised of Ishaan Chaudhary and Will Curry. Stylistically, the two have excelled at weaving electronic music that is influenced by ancient world rhythms, which can be heard in “Inevitable.” MEMBA has played at the Glastonbury Festival and the Priceless Festival, and have gained support from BBC Radio 1, Diplo’s Revolution and Trap Nation, among others.
MEMBA’s “Inevitable” is out now, while Saga II is due in August. Keep it on your list!
