Essentials: Unbalanced EP – Haich

Drawing influence from fellow UK music makers James Blake and Sampha, Haich‘s debut EP Unbalanced is a foray into sonic surrealism. Playing with our ideas of sounds we typically ascribe to UK dance music, Haich’s experimental approach results in a collection of songs that are as meticulously detailed as they are amorphous. He deftly leaps from twinges of soul to a headfirst dive into haunting dubstep basslines in standout song “Stone”, then switches moods for “Don’t Go”, a track that crosses paths with jazz guitar while skimming the surface of dancehall riddims. This EP is a marvel, and it firmly sets Haich on the map of dance music greats.
