Brasstracks have been on a roll this year. They kicked off 2017 by winning multiple GRAMMY awards, recently played to a crowd of 10,000 at Red Rocks with GRiZ, and teased an upcoming headlining tour in conjunction with their new two-part project, the first half of which drops this fall.
Whew. Just typing all of that made me want to take a nap, and I didn’t even mention the other 75 billion things they’ve accomplished. These boys are BUSY.
The title track to the aforementioned project is yet another unexpected turn from the jazz-electronica fusion duo—Ivan Jackson does double-duty on “Those Who Know”, laying down his signature expressive horns and…. singing! (Cue even more Justin Timberlake comparisons).
“Those Who Know” is an emotional reflection on the what-ifs that come with a breakup. Jackson’s chant of “never enough” captures the feelings of regret and self-doubt that can plague us after a massive life change. Throughout it all, Conor Rayne’s drums give the tune a driving rhythm, metaphorically reminding us we have to take things one day at a time.
Stream the track below, and watch out for the EP coming soon.
