Essentials: “Unforgettable” – MEDZ feat. Kings

Be Rich Records has released the collaborative single “Unforgettable” by New Zealand-based duo MEDZ and the rapper Kings. Kings in particular has been quite on the rise since his single “Don’t Worry ’Bout It” won him the “Best Breakthrough Artist of the Year” at the 2016 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.

From the start the synth creates a more relaxed tone and setting. For Future Bass, “Unforgettable” is notably reserved and I think that’s one of the track’s best features. Too often Future Bass songs do too much and take lush synth drops far beyond the point of excess. If anything, the drop here might be a bit too reserved. Yet Kings’ raps effuse a calmness and mesh well with the vibe of MEDZ‘ production. Similarly his hook leisurely builds to the drop which prevents any possible jarring shift in tone. Together MEDZ and Kings relish in chill vibes and blend well together to create a strong cohesive whole.

You can purchase or stream the track here, as well as discover more of MEDZ‘ and Kings‘ music on their SoundCloud pages.
