The Bay Area is home to some of the most recognizable movements in music, from thrash metal in the 1980s to “hyphy” and West Coast hip hop in the 1990s and onward. Building off the history of the Bay Area (YAY AREA), Aabo takes his roots and applies them to modern electronic music trends in “Ride That Wave”. The squidgy bass and downtempo drums call to mind the Bay’s hip hop traditions, while the hyper-pitched vocals reference the sound of today’s trap music.
