Saint Audio Selects

PressPlaylist: Autumn 2016

“Sunny Duet (feat. The Mind)” – Noname

I’ve had Telephone on repeat since it was released this summer – absolutely flawless. The perfect soundtrack to cling to the last of the sunny vestiges as the days get shorter.

“The Best Day” – Atmosphere

Every once in a while it’s nice to rediscover an old favourite, and autumn always has me a little nostalgic with all the memories of back to school shopping and trick or treating.

“Back Pocket” –Vulfpack

If you need to get jiggy, I got ya covered.

“Dance Yrself Clean” – LCD Soundsystem

My flatmate has commented on how often I’ve been playing this song in the shower this fall, which we determined was wildly appropriate considering both the title and the shower-groove potential.

“Dang!” – Mac Miller feat. Anderson .Paak

I’m not usually a huge fan of Mac but I’ve really been vibing with this funky track he collaborated with Anderson .Paak (who did great things on KAYTRANADA‘s new album).

“Definition Of A Rap Flow” – A-F-R-O

I had never heard of A-F-R-O or his silky smooth flow until a friend played this track one night but apparently he’s 18. Have a look at his bandcamp here– there are some cool MF DOOM influences going down.

“Ray Gun (feat. DOOM)” – Ghostface Killah and BadBadNotGood

I’ve been listening to IV by BBNG since July and I really like the dimension that they lends to Doom’s unique style on this collab with Ghostface.

“White Gloves” – Khruangbin

Khruangbin has quickly become one of my favourite artists. I just bought tickets to see them in Glasgow on the 20th and I have very, very high hopes.

“Nakamarra (feat Q-Tip)” – Hiatus Kaiyote

I just saw these guys in Philadelphia and this tune definitely stuck out live. If you like jazz, give them a listen.

“History Lesson” – Nicolas Jaar

An gentle, easygoing one in case you’re as stressed as I am right now. Keep an eye out for our upcoming review of Nick’s new album.

“Loveleen” – Rejjie Snow

My friends have been turning me on to some really great musicians lately, and Rejjie Snow from Dublin is one of them.

“Sweet Chin Music” – Milo

Milo is one of my best friend’s favourite artists and when I’m missing people I like to listen to their music, it helps me feel closer to them.

“Why iii Love The Moon.” – Phony Ppl

Possibly included in reference to my increasingly nocturnal lifestyle.

“Junkies in Love” – That Handsome Devil

A close friend included this song on playlist he made me recently and I’ve been listening to this album all fall. I think I like how much it bends genre and how dark the subject matter gets, in sharp contrast to how lighthearted it sounds.
