Still at the early stages of his career, Skinn’s music is already well received among the Nigerian online community and radio stations in Nigeria. Skinn has already shared stages with well-known names in the Afro-beat scene ranging from Fuse ODG to Sean Tizzle and Wande Coal. Ahead of debuting Rêves, Skinn released 2 promotional singles, via his Soundcloud and was premiered on several Nigerian radio stations, Beat FM being one of them.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Skinn’s childhood was far from average. Moving from Lagos to Nigeria’s capital Abuja, he attended the same military school as D’banj for his O’levels. It wasn’t until later that the New School Afrobeats artist would find himself sharing more than just school history with his esteemed alumni and predecessor.
Having an exceptionally hard time at the military school, Skinn remembers who and when led him to pursue his career in music,
“Whilst I was there I bought my first music CD by Chamillionaire and that settled it. I decided to be an entertainer.”
Later moving to South London, Skinn began to experience and exercise his complete creative freedom, however still a son in a Nigerian household he says,
“I would always stay up all night recording music off my phone and the next day I’ll get a noise caution from dad and that was it. Right now, although it’s hard for them take art as more than just leisure, they can understand and support me. I guess you can say I always tried as much I could to do what I wanted.”
Skinn has come a long way in chasing the arts. Managing to break out of an educational cycle that had him struggling with his creativity, he has now reinvented himself. Following his instincts and having completely immersed himself in his art, Rêves is the resulting creation of extremely captivating Afrobeat songs.
Drawing on his influences from Nigerian singer songwriters such as D’banj and Wizkid, Skinn has continued to craft his own unique lane in Afrobeat music. To Skinn, recording Rêves turned out to be a unique learning curve. The method he applied for recording ultimately proved to be a mirror reflecting his own life and experience in general
“My LP was hugely influenced by my emotions at the time. While I was recording the album I had a lot of high and low points. My mood was really about the place I was in. Eventually, I found my rhythm and found the strength to show my creative side.”
Rêves is a complete artistic project from start to finish. The Cover Art titled ‘The Dreams of Peace’ was shot and photographed in Nigeria by Nigerian Photographer and Entrepreneur, Lubee; whose work has featured on VOGUE Italia and published on various magazines frequently in previous years.

Skinn’s determination and work ethic has certainly helped him develop his sound and contributed to him perfecting both his songwriting and his creative process.
As for the next step for the talented multinational artist, he is continuing to put in serious work with RDP, the creative collective behind Rêves, so we can expect to hear more from Skinn and other members of his team (shout out to YSK) shortly!
