Essentials: “What If I Go?” – Mura Masa

A couple of months ago we featured Mura Masa’s track “Love For That” as an Essential. Now the London-based producer is back with something way funkier in the form of “What If I Go?

Chosen as Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record in the World” on BBC Radio 1, “What If I Go?” is the second track to be released from Masa’s forthcoming debut album – though there has been no new details on that front.

Released on his very own Anchor Point Records, the new jam features the vocals of Bonzai, who has appeared on past Mura Masa productions including “Lovesick Fuck” and “Know Me Better“.

Combining steel drums, jazzy drum fills, expert samples, and a high level of electronic production, the new track’s future bass feel is complimentary to previous single “Love For That”.

Speaking on his new sound, Mura Masa (a.k.a Alex Crossan) said, “[the track is] the next development of the sound. It’s not necessarily about trying to make pop music, but I do want to bring more of an accessibility to weird electronica.”

With his forthcoming U.K and U.S tours sold out, it’s an exciting time for the 19 year-old from Guernsey. Summer dates at Wildlife, Field Day and Parklife will keep fans happy as we all wait for official confirmation of the new album release.
