josh pan, a recent signee of Skrillex‘s label, OWSLA, just released a crazy remix of the remix of Keith Ape‘s “IT G MA,” set to release on 2/12. The 14 minute ballad traverses the soundscape of electronic music changing its beat completely six times, essentially breaking it into separate songs.
While I realize a 14 minute remix of “IT G MA” sounds ridiculous and almost shameful after a year’s worth of countless remixes, including the one with A$AP Ferg, Father, Dumbfoundead and Waka Flocka Flame, this remix is a showcase of josh pan’s range of production – at certain points, you almost forget you’re listening to the same song. Yes, 14 minutes may still be a bit much, but his ability to experiment with so many sounds and to make each one work within the same track is a feat. A current obsession for Anderson .Paak may also add bias to my opinion of this “IT G MA” remix, but it is interesting at the least and definitely worth a listen. If you can’t be arsed, skip ahead to 8:40 to listen to Anderson .Paak’s verse. Straight fire. Check it out below.
