While Kim K’s assurance that we’d be seeing new Kanye every Friday has proved not quite 100, it wasn’t far off. Yeezy just dropped his recently-hyped Kendrick Lamar collab “No More Parties In LA” and it’s… Kanye at his best. I am not joking or exaggerating. This is 6 minutes of fire without a single vocal hook. Kendrick offers a few tight verses that are totally his style and thoroughly enjoyable, but Kanye rips the goddamn microphone out of the booth.
“I know some fans who thought I wouldn’t rap like this again,
But the writer’s block is over, emcees cancel your plans.
I’m a 38 year old 8 year old with rich nigga problems,
Tell my wife that I hate the road so I ain’t never drivin’.
It took 6 months to take the Maybach all matted out,
And my assistant crashed as soon as they backed it out.
Got damn, got up of fade, I might slam,
Pink fur, got Nori dressing like Cam, thank God for me.
Whole family gettin’ money, thank God for E!”
Drop what you’re doing for the next twelve minutes the track, start to finish, twice. It’s that good. It’s also worth noting that this is not technically all-new Kanye — the beat is Madlib-produced and was originally submitted for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy over six years ago. That said, a lot of Kanye’s best lyrics are clearly new and off-top, so we really can’t hate at all. It’s also unclear if “No More Parties” is going to end up on SWISH, but we’ll see as Yeezy Season rolls on.
