Wolfgang Gartner has confirmed a new album via Twitter, releasing 29th January in the US with international release dates pending. The announcement comes during a relative drought from the producer, who largely disappeared from public attention after canceling a tour early last year, following the revelation of ongoing heart issues that posed serious risk to his health.
Since then, he’s released one track, a collab with Wiley and Trina called “Turn Up.” It’s well hype, but arguably incongruous (for better or worse) with much of his back catalogue — no official word on whether “Turn Up” is a part of this yet-unnamed album, but it seems quite likely.
Wolfgang has been taking his time off to enjoy the finer things in life, it seems. His twitter is fairly sparse, beyond a post or two every month, and it seems to reflect a much different lifestyle than that of the average globe-trotting DJ. The grass is always greener, as the saying goes. Regardless, Wolfgang’s work has been missed in the electronic music scene at large, and whether he continues gigging or not, the news of his return has us salivating.
