Pimp C will have a posthumous album called Long Live The Pimp, dropping on 4th December via Mass Appeal Records. The record will feature the first new material in four years from the rapper, who passed away in 2007.
Paired with the announcement comes the delightfully blue, “3 Way Freak,” a track that proves The Weeknd and Lil Wayne were farrr from the first guys to be comparing a certain part of the female anatomy to things that expel water (fire hydrants, etc). It’s classic Pimp C: dirty as all hell, but catchy and enjoyable in a specific way that few rappers alive today can mirror. Lil Wayne’s verse seems to hearken to his classic vibes as well, a laidback-sounding side to his lyricism we don’t hear nearly enough anymore.
Pre-order is available now on iTunes and tracklist – featuring collaborations with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, Bun B, Slim Thug, Lil Keke, David Banner, Nas, and numerous others. With names like those and Pimp C’s widow, Chinara Butler, at the helm of this project, we’re cautiously holding out hope for a full-length that does Pimp C’s legacy some dignified justice.
